Should you trust me?

In case you’re sitting there, arms crossed, wondering who the heck I am and why you should trust me, let me peel back the curtain and let you in on a few things about me:

1) I’m a full-time health coach. I do this all day, 7 days a week, 24 hours and 365 days a year. I just enjoy helping folks. I sincerely care about people and help them reach their goals.

2) I have dealt with insulin resistance in the past, struggling with headaches, skin issues, and difficulty losing weight. This is how I came to know so much about A1C and diabetes because I got tired of the BS online and I read all the books I could about it.

3) I used to be an alcoholic, I fought for more than 10 years with “I know I’m not supposed to drink” and “Yes but I can’t resist it feels so good”. I ended up taking medication, which made me feel like sh*t physically and mentally. Now sober after I realized it’s all in your head. I know what it takes to change.

4) Getting healthy and sober both completely changed my life and who I am as a man, as a dad, and as a friend. It was so life-changing that it prompted me to pursue a new career in coaching to help people make this kind of progress.

5) After going through my challenges and helping other clients do the same, I realized that keeping your A1C in the normal range is actually very simple. But it’s very hard to do because of how we think … “I’ve been eating this my whole life” - “I don’t have time” - “I want to enjoy myself” - “I’m tired after work” … (Hopefully you’ll let me help you with both knowing what to do + actually doing it).

6) I used to be an Industrial Engineer, this is why I’m obsessed with systems and plans and making things easy. I have worked for 7 years in the food industry which is how I know so much about food. Trust me, some of the stuff we eat … is ugly.

7) I have a Health Coaching certification from Harvard Medical School. It sounds fancy but disclaimer I have learned 99% of what I know on my own and through working with my clients.

8) I live in the Boston, MA area. I’m married and a girl dad of 2 adorable little ones. I met my wife while living in Boise ID (yes) and I even used to live in Buffalo NY too.

9) I am from France (that’s why I have this weird accent) but I don’t miss it - I’ve always dreamed of being an American and I love the lifestyle here.

10) I have no intention to make money off of you. I’m on a mission to help people become the best version of themselves and this is what I’ll do for the rest of my life.

Anyways, that’s me in a nutshell. I look forward to speaking with you.

Cheers

Ronan

How long to reverse A1C?

First of all, everyone is different and everyone’s ability to make changes in their lifestyle will vary. With this being said, here’s a scenario example:

Assumptions

-you start at A1C 8.6 (200 Blood sugar),

-you make big changes (diet, exercise),

-you’re able to drop your blood sugar about 8% per week

-your blood sugar reaches 90 mg/dL in 3 months:

1) Great! You’re healthy again

2) Your A1C from new cells will be below 5.0 in 3 months (great)

3) BUT, it will take up to 7 months to see it on a measurement because your red blood cells live for up to 3-4 months.

Some devices allow you to check your “7-day A1C”, basically it measures the average over 7 days and then makes an extrapolation over a 3-month period.

One of my latest clients went from 12.7% A1C to 11.6% in 30 days for his “3-month A1C”. But his “7-day A1C” was 8.8%. So he is making great progress

See the table below to understand how this works.

TLDR: 1% / month

I know that we all want to go fast … but it takes time for your body to recover from years of wrong nutrition.

The good news is that eating healthy and exercising will never hurt you, so however long it takes you, it’s positive progress.
